• 1. How did you learn design?
All over the place. I've been building websites for about 10 years. I used to suck at it, but now I'm doing things no one else can around here. I learned to code from the boys on the tech team at Walton Family Foundation, beginning when they were their own company called Silvermoon Consulting. Austin, Mark, Jonny & Jesse are a dream team. Working with them taught me that you really have to find the tools that allow you to work like there's 5 of you to be good at what you do. If it wasn't for them seeing my creative need and pushing me to go work at Downtown Bentonville Inc, I may not have ever learned design. I've been the designer / developer / videographer / photographer at DBI for about 5 years. Everything you see from them comes from me. It's really fun and gives me a space to create based on the need I see. I also worked as a designer for a Ukrainian online magazine.
  • 2. Did you got to school for this?
Did you got to school for this? You may have picked up on this by now, but... I was not a designer, but I was hired to build DBI a site on Wix. I learned design on the job and now I couldn't be happier with my job(s). Sometimes you don't need a degree or even much experience. Just show that you have what it takes to learn humbly. Then fight every dang day to stay humble or you'll lose it all. Do I have a degree? Yeah I went to some dumb school around here to pick one up for what it's worth, but it's not related to design at all. NWACC is a fantastic school. that is not the school I'm referring too. Take a class with Valor Pickett and your life will be changed. There ya go kids.
  • 3. Where did Chad go? He was way cooler.
Oh man - yeah. I could not agree more. ‍ Minim started with my buddy Chad George (a local genius) and I. We worked together at Downtown Bentonville Inc everyday for 3 years. Lately he's found a great job that he loves and fills his creative juices, running all the media and design at New Heights Bentonville. So now it's just me. Do not hesitate to check out what he's doing lately. Like I said, he's a genius. Seriously check it out....did you do it? Yes we are still friends and I definitely miss seeing him everyday.

How does it work?

Who are you and why do you do this?.

I'm Brad. Nice you meet you! I've seen many small businesses struggle with design, either because they don't have to time or it's too expensive. I get that and realized I can fix it. I work full time at Downtown Bentonville Inc, but I love web design so much that I find myself doing it for fun at home too. I do this for the people. Money is cool, but I just use it to take care of my family and buy tools to make my work better.

"Money and fame bring a man shame. Ain't no doubt about it." -NEEDTOBREATHE

Why would I stray so far from the norm? To meet you where you are. I don't care about recognition. Only making the best websites for the people who can't afford an agency or the time to do it themselves. Minim's purpose is to help small businesses grow in a place where these services are hard to afford.

Will you work on the website I've started?.

That's one thing we don't do for a good reason. I know you've probably put a fair amount of time into it, but there's just no guarantee I can pick up on the platform you use. I use tools that don't limit what we can do and that are 100% mobile responsive. Website builders don't have that kind power and flexibility. Seeing something partially made makes rebuilding it much faster. So not all is lost. Trust me, it's for the best.

Since I have a full time job on top of this I can rarely answer an unknown number. Plus we all know that spam is insane these days. I can often times text you back with all the info you need to know to decide if you want to start a project.
